The Bitterroot River has been on a steady drop over the past several weeks. The dry fly bite has been staying consistent most of the day with small Stoneflies, PMDs, Caddis and the occasional Terrestrial pattern. Mornings have been a bit tougher with a dropper or short leash nymph rig producing the best results. Keep your thermometer handy and check water temps later in the day. The upper river has been staying in the mid 60’s and below but the lower river temps have been as high as 70 degrees. You may want to consider reducing fishing pressure when temps reach above 68 degrees.
