June 23rd Fishing Report

Posted by Jeff Gray on

The entire river is fishing well from the top of the West Fork all the way to Missoula. PMD’s, Drakes,  Small Goldens, Lg Goldens, even Salmon Flies are all still around and playing well. The Wade fishing is improving on our smaller streams too. Attractor type fishing is improving by the day and the creeks are dropping to simple wade fishing levels. The Main Bitterroot cleaned itself up in some of the problem areas with the exception of Tucker to Bell. This section seems to still be a problem. We are not recommending this float to anyone. Below veterans bridge, you MUST take the first left channel - DO NOT TAKE RIGHT CHANNEL. No other major obstacles have been reported.
look for the afternoons to produce the best dry fly fishing, we’ve been seeing consistent hatches of Mayflies and Stoneflies each afternoon. As the water drops new obstacles may appear, please be safe. We’ll see ya on the water.
